P&L ownership and manager training
Most supervisors in small companies have never been taught to read a profit and loss statement. They get measured against numbers whose mechanics nobody has explained, which produces fear or indifference and almost never ownership.
It is usually the thing nobody ever taught them, and it is the difference between a supervisor and a leader you can hand something to.
What we teach
- What the lines actually mean. In plain language, using your statement and not a textbook example.
- Which ones they control. Most managers are carrying anxiety about numbers they cannot affect and ignoring the two they can.
- How a decision travels. How something they choose on Tuesday shows up on a statement six weeks later, which is what turns a number into a consequence.
- How to defend a number. Explaining a miss without either hiding it or apologizing for it is a learned skill, and it is the one that makes them promotable.
Why it pays for itself quickly
A manager who understands the P&L stops asking for permission on small things and starts making the call, because they can see which way the call cuts. That is capacity you already employ and are not currently using.
It also changes what they bring you. Instead of problems, you start getting problems with a recommendation attached.
Who it is for
Shop supervisors, service managers, branch and store managers, crew leads, and anyone else being held to a number they were never shown how to read. It works best delivered against real statements from your business, in short sessions over a few months, rather than as a one-day course everyone forgets.
Tell us what isn't working
The first conversation is a call, no charge and no deck. Bring the thing bothering you most and you'll get a straight read on where you actually are.
Most engagements pull from more than one.
